Summary: Two colour palette displays confusing
Product: kcoloredit
Version: unspecified
Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: wishlist
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: percy.camilo.ta@gmail.com
ReportedBy: karl@huftis.org
Version: 2.09.90 (KColorEdit 2.1 RC) (using 4.4.1 (KDE 4.4.1),
Mandriva Linux release 2010.0 (Official) for i586)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.31.12-desktop-3mnb
In KColorEdit, there are two palette displays, one ‘detailed' and one 'quick',
which serve almost the same purpose. Couldn't they perhaps be merged into one
(which would also leave more space for the palette)?
What I'm proposing is having the display identical to the left display by
default, but when the zoom slider is moved from minus to plus, the display
modes from change from the ‘detailed' view to the views on the right.
Basically, the left-hand display is added as the new ‘left-most' view for the
slider, and there is only one palette pane.
In addition, the slider may be made vertical, and placed below the various
buttons (if you approve of my suggestion in bug #232899), which would leave
some extra vertical space for the palette. (I'm not sure whether a vertical
slider is an improvement, though; I rather like the current one.)
Also, if this is implemented, I think it would be better if palette panes were
real panes instead of dockable. Right now, the difference between the two outer
panes and the middle one looks a bit strange, and it can be confusing if one
accidently drags one of the docks away from where it's placed.
