Needing to run applications as root is being phased out as of KDE 4.4.
KDE applications will be equipped with authentication framework integration,
and will be able to use native services on the operating system such as
PolicyKit (Linux) or Authentication Services (Mac OS X) to run helper
applications to accomplish privileged operations.
