On mousePress, it is emitted with an empty list and an empty point and only if
the editing mode is neither AddNewElement nor SelectingElements. And also only
if the click is outside any element.
On mouse release, the signal is emitted with a non-empty list, if needed.

So, this is a feature, not a bug :-)

Could you just ignore the signal in that case ? 

I close the bug but feel free to reopen it if you think this is necessary.
