Would you try to disable plasma notification?

Right click on the "i" icon in the system tray and select "system tray
settings", from the configuration dialog you can disable "File transfers and
other jobs".

After disabling the notification you could try to copy again files using
dolphin. Tell us if the system hangs anyway.
