Summary: Amarok's main window repaints/resizes slowly
           Product: amarok
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Fedora RPMs
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: amarok-bugs-dist@kde.org
        ReportedBy: linuxhippy@gmail.com

Version: (using KDE 4.2.90)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Fedora RPMs

Amarok's main window as well as its panels repaint & resize quite slow.

Amarok uses Gradients for its table backgrounds, however currently no X11
driver is able to accelerate gradients in hardware.
This means every time Amarok draws a gradient, the drivers are forced to
fallback to softrware rendering which involves expensive copy operations
between system-memory and video-memory.

Furthermore it seems that all the svg re-rendering is done in a synchronous
way, so the UI waits until the svg content is ready and then re-paints, instead
of triggering re-rendering in background and paint the svg when its ready.

This means:
- Resizing main window is horrible slow
- Resizing panels is slow
