I believe around the time I made my last comment in 2008, I also reported the
anomaly to the FreeBSD KDE team. I can't remember the guy's name but I reached
him via IM and he said he thought there was a chance that it was a bug in
FreeBSD itself. I'll see if I can find out if it was ever fixed.
