I actually prefer if the checkbox remains. I simply don't agree with the
original poster that it isn't necessary, because window decoration buttons
behave completely differently to custom colours etc.

This is why:
When the checkbox is checked, if I change the window decoration theme, then the
buttons change to what the designer thought would be best for the window
decoration. However, if I uncheck the checkbox and change the window decoration
theme, the buttons remain the way I have configured them to be, regardless of
the designer's view of what is best.

So if we remove this checkbox, how should changing the window decoration make
the buttons behave? It would either leave the buttons as I have previously
configured them, which may be the default for some other window decoration but
not the one I changed it to, or it would change the buttons to what the window
decoration's default button layout is, and if I configured the buttons to my
own liking, I would have to change them back again, creating unneeded work. One
wouldn't know what kind of behaviour to expect any more, and this would be
counter-intuitive.
