tested in trunk by:

* creating a folder called ~/.wallpapers
* putting some images in it
* opening the desktop setting folder
* selecting the slideshdow (diashow) option
* setting it to that folder
* pressing the Ok button

and it works. perhaps there's an issue with hidden dirs in 4.2's slideshdow
wallpaper? in any case, it does work in trunk.
