Summary: Dolphin flattened folders and virtual folders with
                    headers
           Product: dolphin
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: peter.penz@gmx.at
        ReportedBy: roger.larsson@e-gatan.se

Version:           1.1.80 (using 4.1.67 (KDE 4.1.67 (KDE 4.2 >= 20080918))
"release 1.4", KDE:KDE4:UNSTABLE:Desktop / openSUSE_11.0)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.25.16-0.1-default

Digikam has a feature were it can display all its files separated with headers
- were headers is sub-folder name,

With another feature you can select which files to view by selecting a month or
a tag - you will still get folders as headers but, why not month or week when
selecting year, week when selecting month, day when selecting week, etc.

I think this could be generalized in Dolphin.
Show a folder as a header, show a configurable number of sub files(/folders)
from that sub-folder.
Show a modification month as a header, ...
Show first letter as a header, ...
Show any attribute (as logarithmic size, default tool, ...) as a header, ...

Use case: At work we have a directory with every customer we had ever as a sub
folder. It would be very nice to have "Virtual headers" with first letter of
customer name. Or being able to create real folders one for each letter, but
still being able to present all at one level. (But it is not possible now to
move any of these directorys around - to many links/documents wants to keep the
path as it is)
