Okay, sorry for the miscommunication.

However, your output is still console output. Once the crash occurs, you need
to explicitly get the backtrace using the 'bt' command. For best results, start
the application with --nofork args, eg:

$> gdb amarok
gdb> r --nofork
... (wait till crash) ...
gdb> bt
