Re: Comment #140

It is very unfortunate when what should be a discussion of how best to do things \
breaks down into a rhetorical argument. In rhetoric, you comment can be \
characterized as 'hit and run'. It accomplishes very little. The Strawmen that you \
offer make very little sense.

They can mostly be disposed of with one fact. You can configure this does not mean \
that you must. Clearly, you start with defaults and these are changed ONLY if the \
user chooses to do so.

No, it actually means that there is a binary question:

IF using konq-filemanagement.rc
THEN home is $HOME
ELSE home is web home

This is not rocket science -- it is just another strawman.

There are in fact 4 states. You can open Konqueror as "WebBrowser" or FileManager. \
And, you can do webbrowsing or filemanagement in either one. So, there are 4 states. \
You do the math. In my proposed solution. There is 2 states (either it is \
filemanagement or it isn't).

Your attempt to split Konqueror into two applications will distroy one of KDE's best \
features. Konqueror is the universal browser. A browser that also has the ability \
to run a filemanager as a plugin.

So, this is another possibility. If the Dolphin plugin is active, then home is \
$HOME, otherwise it is the web home. This has the advantage that there is NO state \
issue at all and it is simple to tell when the Dolphin plugin is active.

Your additional ideas of further splitting Konqueror into two applications are even \
worse ideas.
