Yes, I feel your pain (it bugs me too at times), which is why I suggested (and still \
do suggest) "making it easier to not select the final newline".

I think that is something of a related topic to controlling paste (which needs to \
know how to deal with multi-line, as well), but is an equally valid issue.

In fact, I think I'll... er, re-open bug 64295.
