This works correctly in TRUNK when using the "Edit File Type" button.

However, I find that it doesn't work correctly if you use "Open With..." and they \
check the box for: "Remember application association for this type of file".  When I \
do this, a 'desktop' file is created and the application disappears from the tree in \
the dialog as stated in the original report.
