It might be a USB problem with your computer or gphoto2 USB traffic handling. 
I have similar problems when I download from the camera directly. When I download \
from the same CF card but through card reader, then there are much less problems on \
my old computer and no problems on my new computer. These problems are the same using \
gphoto2 only, has nothing to do with digikam.
