You can easily workaround this bug by creating a wrapper script sleeping a while \
before returning:

  chris nisroc:~/bin$ cat ooffice-delay
  #!/bin/bash
  ooffice "$ "
  sleep 180

If you start opening your office documents using this wrapper you will be able to \
open all documents as expected.
