Summary: sadly, kedit STILL corrupts all files that contain tab
characters
Product: kedit
Version: unspecified
Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: wuebben kde org
ReportedBy: the.mad.doctor.kaeding gmail com
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc 3.4.4 pre
OS: Linux
When I reported this bug in KDE 3.3.1, you "resolved" it by saying
that kedit was being discontinued and you would not fix it. Well,
I find that a simple text editor is very useful, if it works. I was
glad to see that kedit is still in KDE 3.5.6, but sad to see that it
still has this bug.
Here is the symptom: Edit a file that contains tab characters.
Save it. All tabs are now single spaces. Files that require tabs,
like Makefiles, will no longer work.
If you're not willing to fix it, would you be so kind as to email me
a description of how kedit makes its decision to replace tabs, and where
in the source code I can find it, so that I can try myself. Thank you.
