           Summary: ksayit canceled shutdown--can't logout
           Product: ksayit
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Debian testing
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: gunnar schmi-dt de
        ReportedBy: ross biostat ucsf edu

Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
Compiler:          g++ 4.1, I think--Debian default
OS: Linux

Severity Note: This bug makes it impossible to logout and renders the system \
semi-broken. As such, it is likely to cause lots of problems for inexperienced \
users.

After logging in, KSayIt is running in the system tray (as is amarok and some other \
items). amarok was also running as an app.

After selecting logout/end session the session does not terminate. .xsession-errors \
                shows
ksmserver: WARNING: Client ksayit (10636f726e000115138403500000084540029) canceled \
shutdown.

Further, all the window decorator controls (e.g., the X to close the window, \
click-dragging on the title bar to move it) become unresponsive.

I think that some of these problems are bugs in other programs, perhaps ksmserver or \
the window manager. However, bugs of this sort filed against ksmserver seem to \
always get a response of "file the bug against the app."(*)

There seems to be a bug with ksayit here, namely that it blocks shutdown. If you can \
interest other parties in the apparent bugs in the way the system responds to that, \
that would be great too.

(*) For example, one bug asked that the system give feedback when logout is blocked. \
This seemingly reasonable request was rejected on principle. However, the breakdown \
in the window controls seems more serious than a lack of feedback.
