A key distinction is that in my case, I *do* have two separate file trees on my disk for different formats. I also have only complete albums, excepting some legacy mp3's. /common/music/flac/Van Halen/ /common/music/ogg/Van Halen/ /common/music/mp3/Van Halen/ *legacy use only Changes made to lyrics, ratings, comments, or id3 tags in one format should propagate to all other formats of the same recording. In my collection, I put in only one format for each song. Which format I choose depends on the power of the box and the network. For example, some of my machines don't handle flac over nfs well as they are quite old, so they use the ogg version. My ipod mini uses the ogg version as well, for obvious reasons. Regards, Mark
