When selecting "Kcontrol" from the menu of opening via console, I get the \
main window which tells me who I am, what type OS system and version of \
Kcontrol I'm using, but the left panel is absent. I've searched many sites \
for an answer, and nobody's solution seems to help...as if I'm a special \
case. I'm using Debian Etch, and upgrade from Debian Sarge, Before the \
upgrade everything was working fine. I cannot customize my KDE settings \
easily until this issue is resolved, it's pretty annoying. 

Someone said it was a symlink issue, but when I looked further into it, I \
created an empty file and symlinked to it. The file just doesn't exist or \
seem to be in the .deb package. The symlink resolution helped lots of \
people... but it does not help those who do not have the file in their \
system. I hope this is resolved quickly.
