Summary: amarok pretends that collection is empty but the sqlite
                    database seems fine
           Product: amarok
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Debian testing
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: amarok-bugs-dist kde org
        ReportedBy: Martin Lichtvoll de

Version: 1,.4.3 (using KDE KDE 3.5.5)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

I have been using Amarok since quite sometime without severe problems, but now Amarok \
1.4.3 pretends that my collection is empty, even when the sqlite database file seems \
to be fine:

martin deepdance:share/apps/amarok> sqlite3 collection.db
SQLite version 3.3.8
Enter ".help" for instructions
sqlite> .tables
admin devices lyrics related_artists
album directories playlists statistics
amazon embed podcastchannels tags
artist genre podcastepisodes uniqueid
composer images podcastfolders year
sqlite>

I queried some of the tables and they contain content that looks meaningful to me.

The collection tab shows an empty list. I told it to show the whole collection and \
did not give a filter. The playlist is still there and the music files as well.

The problem occured the first time yesterday as I just wanted to start Amarok to hear \
some music. The dynamic playlist is still there, but I keep getting errors that \
albums that are referred by it are not in the collection anymore.

The source directory for the collection is still available and readable by Amarok.

I am using Debian packages of Amarok and sqlite3:

deepdance:~> dpkg -l | egrep -i "(amarok|sqlite)"

interface to SQLite 3 ii sqlite3 3.3.8-1 A command \
line interface for SQLite 3

I moved the old collection.db out of the way and let Amarok rebuild the database. \
After that the collection is not empty anymore and all seems fine. Still I would like \
Amarok to convince to use my existing data.

Tell me, when you need any other information. The bzip2 compressed collection.db is \
about 500 KB. I can send it to a Amarok developer via private mail. I do not like to \
attach it to this bug report tough.
