Summary: Transferring smart playlists to iPod doesn't work
           Product: amarok
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: amarok-bugs-dist kde org
        ReportedBy: iwilcox iwilcox me uk

Version: 1.4.1 (2:1.4.1-0ubuntu1) (using KDE KDE 3.5.3)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

Hi,

I've always used the "All Collection" smart playlist to transfer my whole collection \
to my iPod. This has recently stopped working (haven't experimented to find out \
exactly which revision broke this, but I suspect it broke between 1.3.9 and 1.4.1, \
and most likely between 1.4.0a and 1.4.1).

By "stopped working", I mean...umm...well, a video tells a thousand pictures, and \
I've been playing with screencasting lately, so here's a vid in Theora (please do \
tell me if this is a good/bad/ugly way/format to submit bug reports; I can do them \
better version in Flash, much as I hate the format) : \
http://www.iwilcox.me.uk/amarokbug.ogg

Things that look wrong to me (these may be separate bugs or all symptoms of the same \
                one):
 - the metadata is clearly wrong in the transfer queue; the numbers only ever seem to \
come up as 1, 2 or 4, FWIW
 - the transfer queue appears to contain "0B" worth of music (it also does that with \
that individual Athlete track, but that track is actually already on \
                the iPod)
 - statusbar says (per-track): "Track not playable on media device: " with no name \
(this is very brief on the vid)
 - statusbar claims (in summary) that every single track is unplayable, yet I can \
clearly transfer an individual track that's part of "all collection"

The same problem occurs with any smart playlist, not just "all collection". Static \
playlists transfer fine, as does dragging individual tracks from the current playlist \
pane as seen on the video. It seems to be easy enough to work around by just doing \
[right-click-on-all-collection-smart-playlist] -> Load; Ctrl-A to select all tracks; \
drag select(all)ed tracks from current playlist pane to the media device tab.

I'm loving the last.fm support, by the way!
