How do you initiate the downloads (from konquerors all-links-window maybe?)

What protocol are they (http or ftp)?

What are your cache settings (look in \
controlcenter->internet&network->web-browser->cache)?

When you start kget from a command line, do you get any output? If yes, can you \
redirect it into a file (like:  $kget > kget_logfile) and post it here?
