I got no sound at all. Even from the console.

However, everything is back to normal. I used Control Center -> Yast2 -> Devices -> \
Sound and when I clicked on "Modify" to see the configuration of my sound card, I \
heard a click sound. That was it.

I had to do the same thing for root but the problem was over. Everything works.

I don't really understand what happened but I guess some differences were introduced \
in the configation files in between the two versions. Something had to be re-written \
the new way.

I restarted X, I re-booted the whole system, and it keeps on working. So... solved!
