In conjunction with the sound card SoundBlaster Live! 24 bit (ALSA kernel driver snd_ca0106) which works perfectly with ALSA compatible applications, arts delivers noisy and clicky sound. The noise sounds like "tremolo". There seems to be no way to fix that by changing arts settings.
