I also noticed this bug. My CPU is 1,67 GHz Sempron 2400+ and I have the same \
problem: when I start amaroK, it's all right, when I play something, CPU usage is \
8-10% according to gkrellm, and when I pause/stop it, CPU usage is 25-45%. 

This is quite annoying :(
Any ideas how to fix this?

I'm using amaroK 1.2.4 and KDE 3.4.0.
