Summary: kded crashes when a dvd is inserted
           Product: kdelibs
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Debian testing
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: crash
          Priority: NOR
         Component: kded
        AssignedTo: bastian kde org
        ReportedBy: boerre skolelinux no

Version: KDE Daemon: $Id: kded.cpp,v 1.102 2005/01/21 15:36:26 waba Exp $ \
(using KDE KDE 3.4.0) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages
OS: Linux

When a dvd (data or movie) is inserted, kded crashes, and a "crash"-window appears. \
As long as the dvd is in machine, this goes on and on. Everything else works (data \
cd, audiocd, usb-media, removable disks).

I have Kubuntu 5.04 installed on a Powerbook G4.

Description: Hardware Abstraction Layer
HAL provides an abstract view on hardware.
 .
This abstraction layer is simply an interface that makes it possible to
add support for new devices and new ways of connecting devices to the
computer, without modifying every application that uses the device.
It maintains a list of devices that currently exist, and can provide
 information about those upon request.

Description: simple interprocess messaging system
D-BUS is a message bus, used for sending messages between
applications. Conceptually, it fits somewhere in between raw sockets
and CORBA in terms of complexity.
 .
D-BUS supports broadcast messages, asynchronous messages (thus
decreasing latency), authentication, and more. It is designed to be
low-overhead; messages are sent using a binary protocol, not using
XML. D-BUS also supports a method call mapping for its messages, but
it is not required; this makes using the system quite simple.
 .
D-BUS is still under heavy development, but is expected to be widely
used. It comes with several interfaces, including GLib. See the
description of dbus-glib-1 for more information about those.
