Summary: mp3 file contents replaced with zeros when editing tags
Product: amarok
Version: 1.2.3
Platform: Gentoo Packages
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: amarok-bugs-dist lists sourceforge net
ReportedBy: abenea gmail com
Version: 1.2.3 (using KDE KDE 3.4.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.5
OS: Linux
I edited some tags using "Write 'blahblahblah' For Selected Tracks" and I lost the \
contents of some files. I think this bug relates to the collection not being updated \
properly.
I downloaded some songs, lets call them NEW. These songs (NEW) didn't have a tag. \
Amarok guessed Artist and Song quite well an I replaced the Album tag. After I used \
"Write..." on them I discovered that the tags were written to other files (lets call \
them OLD) in a totally different location and the file contents was binary zeros... I \
right-clicked one of those files, and "View/Edit Meta Information" confirmed the path \
of the files was OLD.
You can imagine how frustrating this can be (I lost one of my favourite's band \
albums...).
1. Could you please add a safety-check somewhere?
2. Could you include some write-protection option? I don't want to be bitten by this \
crappy tag editor feature again... 3. Maybe a bug in the tagging library?
