Summary: Referer not sent on new window, new tab, 'View Image',
and probably others
Product: konqueror
Version: unspecified
Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: konq-bugs kde org
ReportedBy: rohan mizzenblog com
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.2)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
OS: Linux
Konqueror (or perhaps KHTML - my apologies if this bug is filed in the wrong \
category) seems to never send the Referer HTTP header in at least the following \
situations:
* opening a document in a new window
* opening a document in a new tab
* right-clicking on an image and hitting 'View Image'
Probably there are other cases too. Note that I am referring to when the user opens \
a new window or tab; I'm not sure of the behaviour when a site opens a new window or \
tab by itself. (see related bug - 23160. But that bug was closed years ago.)
This behaviour breaks lots of sites. As an example, see \
http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=5086 . If you right-click on the screenshot \
and hit 'view image', referer is not sent so you get a nice 'permission denied' type \
image. (also, it breaks about 75% of pr0n sites.)
Bug 92142 may be a dupe of this one.
