Now that Valgrind uses fewer FDs (a small constant number rather than 2 per thread), \
we could just reserve a small range around 1024.  Normally that will be at the top of \
the FD space, but if the app wants to raise the limit, then that's OK.  We'll prevent \
Valgrind's FDs from being closed or used by the client, of course.
