           Summary: Kmix could show the application that currently uses the
                    audio device
           Product: kmix
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Gentoo Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: esken kde org
        ReportedBy: mchristoph.eckert t-online de

Version:            (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from:    Gentoo Packages

Well, audio on Linux still is a messy thing.

As soon as arts or any other application blocks the device and the user starts \
another program that tries to access the device, it will simply not start or - the \
better but anyway confusing case - alert a message like »No audio devices found « or \
simply play not any sound. The user wonders.

I guess most users will then check kmix if there's set something wrong; so I had the \
idea that kmix could display in its main window which application currently uses the \
audio device, something like

* xmms
* xine
* mplayer
* arts
* Jack

Why not make this visible in the main window of kmix?
