This happens still with KDE-3.3.1 and qt-copy sometimes. Selection is inversed and \
tranferred to klipper but it's not active -> cannot paste by MMB. You'll have to \
select it again or check it from top of klipper clipboard.

Cannot say how to reproduce, sometimes it happens and usually not.

I don't use wine applications, only non kde apps are mozilla-firefox and opera which \
I use.
