In the configure dialog, you may be able to choose an encoding for the pilot (that \
selection would be on the general or device page, where you select /dev/pilot or \
/dev/... as the pilot device). Pick what is relevant to you there - probably ISO \
8859-1 (Western Europe). If there is no selector, you can add the line

Encoding=Western European ( iso 8859-15 )

to the [General] section of the kpilotrc configuration file. In more recent versions \
of KPilot, there is always a selector for choosing the encoding.
