------- I've also this sort of problem when a desktop subfolder is changed (files \
added/removed) :

I often download archives on my desktop, and then exctract them on my desktop, and \
then start "./configure; make". ie. : "cd ~/Desktop/software-0.x; ./configure; make"
But during configure, the desktop flicker.
Perhapse due to multile changes (files created and deleted) in the subfolder of my \
Desktop... But thy are change in SUBFOLDER, and software-0.x isn't renamed or icon \
hasn't changed, so Desktop is not altered : the reload is useless. Please handle KIO \
calls (?) clever, if it isn't already done (if then, forgive my report :-) ).

I don't know if it is also resolved but NO redraw/reload must be done in this case !!
