Are you interested in trying a profiled run?  That's really the only thing that I \
know of at this point that would be useful.

The downside is that for profiling expect startup / shutdown for a few thousand items \
to take an hour and a half and half a gig of RAM.

But a run of valgrind's calltree skin on the application and then a tarball of the \
output files would probably be enough for me to be able to know more.

Sadly short of that since there's no mention of anything JuK-specific in the \
backtraces there's just not much that I can do on this one...
