           Summary: chooser connection refused xdmcp
           Product: kdm
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: SuSE RPMs
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: crash
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: ossi@kde.org
        ReportedBy: joachim.schnitter@gmx.de

Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

The chooser program delivered with KDE 3.1 fails to bring up a window. This renders \
XDMCP indirect queries impossible.

I started the kdm chooser manually from a regular X11 session initiated by kdm by \
issuing the command '/opt/kde3/bin/chooser'. The program fails with the error message

Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified

chooser: cannot connect to X server :0.0

The same happens when the chooser program is started with the DISPLAY variable set to \
a freshly started X server.

As the chooser program coming with X11 does not expose this problem, and kdm chooser \
as of KDE 3.0 does not show it either, I suspect something has been screwed up in the \
current release.

I used the kdebase RPM binary packages for SuSE 8.1 from both the official KDE ftp \
server and SuSE's download area. Both versions behave the same way with respect to \
the problem described.

I am not quite sure but I might have seen this bug already with KDE 3.0.5. Release \
3.0.4 was o.k.
