it would seem that there is some sort of problem with reading/writing the  
smb.conf.* files. i've rewritten all this code in the latest (cvs) version, so  
if you're feeling lucky you could try that (i think there are instructions on  
kde.org).  
  
otherwise you could wait until 0.5.1 which _should_ be out fairly soon.  
  
if you just want a really quick fix, just put the following line into  
/etc/samba/smb.conf under the "[globals]" line (and get rid of any other 
"message command" lines) 
  
message command = /usr/kde/bin/winpopup-send.sh %s %f & 
 
where /usr/kde is the kde directory (might be /opt/kde or some other such 
wierd location on suse...) 
 
then just restart smbd & nmbd: 
 
killall -HUP smbd; killall -HUP nmbd 
 
and you should be ready to go. oh - and don't forget to set up your hostname 
etc in the config dialog!
