Well, the report is for KDE 2.2.1 but the bug is still valid for KDE 3.0.8 (KDE
3.1 beta2). Unfortunately besides the flicker the system takes 100% CPU time
while updating the display. 
Looking at top I can see that the CPU time is taken by X and konqueror, _not_ by
fam.
BTW: I have the feeling that bug #42760 is a duplicate of this one
