From kde-bugs-dist Sat Aug 31 19:51:32 2002 From: ljfisher () purdue ! edu Date: Sat, 31 Aug 2002 19:51:32 +0000 To: kde-bugs-dist Subject: Bug#47273: ioslaves killed and restarted repeatedly X-MARC-Message: https://marc.info/?l=kde-bugs-dist&m=103082424423544 Package: kioslave Version: KDE 3.0.7 CVS/CVSup/Snapshot Severity: normal Installed from: Compiled sources Compiler: gcc-2.96 OS: Linux OS/Compiler notes: Not Specified I will use the ftp ioslave in this example, but I believe this affects all ioslaves (sftp slave shows the same behavior). I am seeing instances where the slave is repeatedly being killed and restarted for no particularly good reason as far as I can tell. I have not found a definite pattern to what causes the behavior either. I can replicate the behavior by connecting to a ftp site, ftp://myhost. Once I am connected if I click around on folders and go up and down the directory tree enough, eventually a username/password dialog pops up. This just appears while I am browsing the ftp site. Checking the kdebug messages shows the slave was killed and restarted. No password was saved (may this be another bug???) so the dialog is shown. If I enter my username and password again, I reconnect. I can then reproduce the bug again. The kdebug messages are: kio (KIOJob): Job::kill this=0x8319f60 m_progressId=0 quietly=true kio (KIOJob): SimpleJob::kill(quietly:true) kio (Scheduler): Scheduler: killing slave 7371 kio (Slave): killing slave pid=7371 (ftp://ibex) kio (KIOJob): Job::kill this=0x833f8e0 m_progressId=0 quietly=true kio (kioslave): SIGPIPE The complete debug output is at: http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~ljfisher/kdebug.dbg Look in the top half of the file for the above messages to get an idea of the context of the error.
