Your message with subj: Bug#13383

I am closing this bug since I can't reproduce it in KDE 3.0.2. My .gtkrc file
looks almost exactly like yours, but I am able to type umlauts correctly in
Gnucash.

Regards,

Juan Guardia

Subject: .gtkrc from Themes/Style kills german umlauts
From: Hansjörg Schwarz <rotten@odn.de>
To: submit@bugs.kde.org

Package: kcontrol
Version: v2.0pre (KDE 2.0)
Severity: grave
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.2 19991024 (release)
OS: Linux 2.4.0-test9 i686 (compiled sources)

the ~/.gtkrc created from Themes/Style kills german umlauts:

1. GTK-Apps: Menus: The rest of the text of an menu item is cut/not printed as soon as a
german umlaut appears in that text. The umlaut itself is not printed, too.

2. Input of german umlauts in gtk-widgets is not possible

Examples: Applixware 5.0 german, Telefonbuch für Deutschland (Frühjahr 2000)

I think this is a grave bug, since no one tells you that ~/.gtkrc is created and is _not_
deleted after unchecking Themes/Style/"Apply fonts and color to non-KDE apps".
It took me two weeks to track that bug down, probably a normal user is absolutely
helpless about that...

Normaly i don't have a .gtkrc, my kde-created .gtkrc looks as follows:
----- snap on-----
# created by KDE, Mon Oct 23 17:24:11 2000
#
# If you do not want KDE to override your GTK settings, select
# Themes/Styles in the control center and disable the checkbox
# "Apply fonts and colors to non-KDE apps"
#
# If you had a ~/.gtkrc before starting KDE, its content is
# preserved in ~/.gtkrc-save
#
