Subject: konqueror sends corrupted basic http auth header
From: Thilo.Ernst@dlr.de

Package:           khtml
Version:           3.0 (using KDE 2.1.9 >= 20010223)
Severity:          normal
Installed from: Red Hat Linux 7.01
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-76)
OS:                Linux 2.4.2-ac5 i686
OS/Compiler notes:

Hi,

I want to access a password-protected URL (basic http auth) belonging to a site \
running Zope/ZServer.

The auth window pops up and I enter valid credentials, but the server responds with \
"Unauthorized". I used a simple logging proxy to inspect what's happening, and \
repeated the same experiment with Netscape (where the problem does not occur). Seems \
like Konqueror appends some characters to what otherwise would be the correct \
                (encoded) auth string:
Konqueror: Authorization: Basic ZXJuc1r6dGVxbnN0AA==\r
Netscape:  Authorization: Basic ZXJuc1r6dGVxbnN0\r
Any ideas where the 'AA==' comes from?
I installed KDE straight from the RH7.1 CDs.

I looked into the Zope mailing lists and to my surprise found that other people are \
happily using Zope and Konqueror together. But perhaps they use older KDE/Konqueror \
versions (no info). Or could that be a library issue on my installation? Thanks for \
any feedback.

Regards, Thilo Ernst
