I agree with this wholeheartedly...I would really like to see this feature = in=20 KDE 3.1. I think what would be really cool is if the desktop icons would line=20 themselves up when you drag them around (as suggested by this wishlist item= ),=20 but also, if kdesktop would figure out what spacing to use automatically.=20 Right now, when you line icons up, KDE sticks them all in the upper left=20 corner (I like my trash in the lower right). The 3.0.1 behavior was better than the current CVS behavior...it lined thin= gs=20 up and kept them in approximately the right places, but sometimes it would= =20 use weird spacing, and my trashcan would show up, say 50 pixels above the=20 panel and 15 pixels away from the right side of the screen. This looks ugly= ,=20 and should be fixed somehow. I only have a vague idea how this might be don= e,=20 but Windows XP handles icon placement very nicely (and even accomodates for= =20 different taskbar sizes and making everything line up without putting the=20 recycle bin way up). I've been toying with writing a patch for this, but I don't think I know=20 enough about KDE to do it right. (Complete bug history is available at http://bugs.kde.org/db/35/35469.html)
