Your DHCP server most likely puts a non existant or slow DNS server in
/etc/resolv.conf

Severity: normal
Installed from: Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.18-6mdk
OS/Compiler notes:

I use a DHCP server to configure my machine in my LAN. While the DHCP server is up, \
everything's fine but if I shut down the DHCP server without stopping my local \
connection (eth0), KDE suddenly becomes very slow to start applications. Like if it \
searched something on my LAN and didn't find it because the LAN is broken. If I then \
shut eth0 down, KDE becomes fast again.
