Now I made a trial installation of CUPS 1.1.14 from sources. After a reboot 
all printers were disappeared and even the URL http://localhost:631 was not 
found (but cupsd seemed to run).

In addition I have done a completely new installation of SuSE 8.0 for trial. 
The behaviour of kjobviewer is the same as on my updated installation.
So there might be something wrong with the SuSE 8.0 distribution(?)

You sayed, that you can not reproduce that. Do you have a SuSE 8.0 
installation?
