It's configurable; see KControl -> Look & Feel -> Shortcuts. "Walk Through 
Desktops" is the one you want.

When you switch applications on a desktop, the most recently used apps are listed \
first. One would think that, for the sake of consistency and ease of use, that \
switching between virtual desktops would be the same. But it's not, instead, one must \
run through the whole list, in order, to get to another desktop. This should be \
changed to coincide with the switching between applications, it's the consistent and \
intuitive thing to do.
