This is probably due to Qt's buggy enter/leave event notifications. Please try 
this: set the autohide delay to something greater than zero and see if you 
can reproduce the problem. My guess is that you will see that the panel is 
actually getting unhidden when the cursor _leaves_ the region that should 
trigger it to unhide. I have seen this behavior before. Since you have the 
hiding speed set so, high, this unhiding is probably not even noticeable.

I think I will have to redo the auto-hide mechanism entirely with cursor 
position polling as Qt's enter/leave notifications are so unreliable.
