Your message with subj: sorting and threads

Folder are now also bold when subfolders contain new mail, which should allow
you to find the folders with new mail more easy.
Displaying the total unread messages would only be confusing, since top level
folder can contain mail on its own.

Subject: Wanted feature - Sorting of messages
From: jorgen.sigvardsson@kau.se

Package: kmail
Version: 1.1.99 (KDE 2.1 post Beta 2 (>= 20010128))
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Debian GNU/Linux (unstable)
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.3 20010125 (prerelease)
OS: Linux 2.4.1-pre10 i686 (Debian Package 4:2.1-beta2-0128-1 (testing/unstable))

1) Netscape Mail-like flagging - which should be sortable
according to some configurable order

2) Sorting based on state (I want to be able to sort
unread mail apart from read mail)

Regarding 1) - I want to be able to create flags which
means different things which I can set on different
messages. One flag (red for instance)) could mean "You
better reply to this asap, another flag (e.g. blue) may
mean, remember to do this after work on the way home.. and
etc. Of course, it would be nice if messages could be
sorted based on these flags. Therefore I guess the flags
should be given priority as well. Implicit (order of
appearance in config) or explicit (importance-percentage
perhaps). Anyhow, such a feature would rock.

Regarding 2) - When using thread mode, it is sometimes
hard to find a new message sent to an old thread. I would
love to have these threads located either first or last in
the list of messages depending on date-sorting order.
I.e., I want the possibility to sort threads based on the
starting message date *or* the date of the last message
sent to the thread. I don't know how much of an impact
this would have on the infrastructure inside KMail. Maybe
this is too much to ask for (like total rewrite - I dunno
:)

KMail is probably the best mailer around. I use it all the
time, and I love it. Thanks for your past work, and thanks
for your future work.
