Your message with subj: kword enkword encoding charactercoding character set works \
backwards (when it works at all iso-8859-2 on an iso-8850-1 machine)

Thank you for your bug report. The bug that your reported no longer applies to
the latest development (CVS) version of KDE. This is most probably because
the bug has been fixed, the application has been substantially modified, or
the application no longer exists. The bug report will be closed.

Qt3 removes the complete need for selecting a charset.

Subject: kword enkword encoding charactercoding character set works backwards (when \
it works at all iso-8859-2 on an iso-8850-1 machine)
From: bryce@obviously.com

Package: kword
Version: 0.8 (using KDE 2.1.1 )
Severity: wishlist
Installed from: Red Hat Linux 7.0
Compiler: gcc version 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-79)
OS: Linux 2.2.17-8smp i686
OS/Compiler notes:

KWord offers a selection of a "Character set" in the font menu. You must first \
select a font, then see what character sets are available. This is backwards.

Much more useful is to select a "Character set" first, then see what fonts have it. \
Any user of character set that requires a minor encoding will tell you this is \
better.

gfontsel works this way.

Of course, I'm not sure this feature works at all. My kword crashes every time I try \
to write a document with an ISO-8859-2 character set. For example:

	Wroc³awia

The letter between c and a is a superscript 3 in ISO-8859-1, but a l-slash in \
ISO-8859-2.

I challenge you to take a machine set up for an English locale, write a document with \
this one Polish word, and get it to print out properly. Do so, and this bug is \
handled :-).

         -Bryce
