I am having the exact same problem. 

I never had the problem during testing, now that my code is in production I am \
getting this on one of the xml message. My guess is the user have used & in the \
comment field which is what is making the code to throw the exception when parsing \
the document. Here is my exception:

org.apache.xmlbeans.XmlException: error: Unexpected character encountered (lex state \
                3): ' '
        at org.apache.xmlbeans.impl.store.Locale$SaxLoader.load(Locale.java:3486)
        at org.apache.xmlbeans.impl.store.Locale.parse(Locale.java:712)
        at org.apache.xmlbeans.impl.store.Locale.parseToXmlObject(Locale.java:696)
        at org.apache.xmlbeans.impl.store.Locale.parseToXmlObject(Locale.java:683)
        at org.apache.xmlbeans.impl.schema.SchemaTypeLoaderBase.parse(SchemaTypeLoaderBase.java:208)
                
        at noNamespace.STPMessagesDocument$Factory.parse(STPMessagesDocument.java:119)
                
        at com.tdsecurities.fxfunding.app.ttdealer.TtOrderReconManager.collectStpMessages(TtOrderReconManager.java:261)
                
        at com.tdsecurities.fxfunding.app.ttdealer.TtOrderReconManager.run(TtOrderReconManager.java:99)

        at org.apache.xmlbeans.impl.piccolo.xml.Piccolo.parse(Piccolo.java:723)
        at org.apache.xmlbeans.impl.store.Locale$SaxLoader.load(Locale.java:3454)
        ... 8 more

I know other people experienced similar problem in past, but I can figure out what \
the solution was.
