getter for enumeration array throws ArrayStoreException

When I call getX() and the return type is .Enum[] I get an 
ArrayStoreException.  The problem seems to be in System.ArrayCopy where the two 
objects types that need to be copied are different.  One object is an Impl and 
one object is not.  I will attach a schema and JUnit test to expose the 
problem.  Thanks for all the help on this issue.
