The Eclipse Web Standard Tools platform has a built in spellchecker, and 
the XML editors included work well with it.  You have the ability to add 
your own custom dictionaries as well.   I've used the eclipse tools to 
do docbook editing and publication, and they work quite well.  Best of 
all it's all open source and free.
